The documentarist Sigve Endresen portrays the singer Kari Iverland's recording process and journey towards a finished album. Through her lyrics, we get an insight into the existential unrest she has felt throughout her life. This is further elaborated upon in meetings with Kari's parents, and with the doctor that treated her in a phase of her life when she stopped eating and thus almost chose death. As the child of two missionaries who are working to improve an unjust world, she paradoxically became a victim.
This is heart-breaking, but still heart-warming film. Once and again, the humanist Sigve Endresen proofs his unsurpassable skills as a documentarist. Kari Iverland's trust is never abused, and the film lifts her experiences away from personal events and to universal level.

Sigve Endresen (f. 1953) has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a producer and director of dokumentary films. His best known productions; For your Life, Big Boys Don't Cry, and Living Amongst Lions have been successful commercially and critically and won numerous festival awards. Living Amongst Lions won an Amanda, the Norwegian cinema directors award for Best Film as well as The Best Nordic Documentary prize in the Nordic Panorama. In 1998 Sigve recived the highest accolade Norway can bestow on a film maker;
